Our Weekly Assembly Star Award heroes.
Our assembly theme this week was all around heroes and laughter. Alasdair from Smithton Church told some terrible jokes, mainly about his lego interest, and Mariah Carey's song helped us to think that we can all be heroes.
During our transition activities Culloden Academy have visited P7s and Brandon Swain from the drama department gave a huge thanks to our pupils for being creative and responsive. He is really looking forward to P7 coming to Culloden after the Summer.
For Nursery children coming to P1, we had children that showed they were heroes. In Miss Mackay's class, they have been designing and making baby highchair.
Those in her room at the time of transition were showing how to care for a baby.

Evie P1JB showing others how to hold a baby.

Riley P1JB showing how to hold a baby's head and giving excellent eye contact when communicating with the baby.
The best picture captured on Friday was this one!

P5HB drew outlines of themselves and they wrote heroic words about each other with chalk inside their playground image. Vilte, Jess and Scarlet wished to show this piece of photographic art to say that friendship helps us all become heroes.
Meanwhile Kian, Alexander and Dominik are clearly looking forward to a finals tournament that is starting on June 14th. They left chalk in the playground for others to predict the score of this game. 4-0 Scotland was the most popular! 🌈🌈🌈🌈

Primary 4 were doing a lot of measuring outside looking at Capacity in Maths. 😄

Also P4 are star writers. They were writing profiles of famous persons in their own words. See Freya's here!

And also during our Nursery transition events we captured future investigators and scientists,

There have been some reports of children ( P1-P3s) going to the park pre 9 am instead of school playground and then not reporting to school at bell time. This includes taxied children. Please remind children of the importance of safety aspects around this.

Parent Council Meeting on Tuesday, Community Room, 6.15pm.
Let's finish with a story of laughter, community heroism and resilience. Smithton community is known for its welcoming nature. P5SH have already shared their investigation work about the Shackleton Air Crash.
After the crash, the Smithton Community ( or what houses were there at that time) made sure that the crash survivors were well catered for.

So much so, that the man on the left, was able to still referee a match in the Highland League hours later. This is remarkable resilience that can be missing from today's society. The actions of the Smithton Community clearly made the difference to how these survivors dealt with the trauma of the crash. We are all heroes!

Have a great week ahead and be proud that our school continues to promote this community spirit to help us all feel we are heroes.
