Here at Smithton ELC we are dedicated to providing a rich, fun learning environment where children are encouraged to follow their own individual, developmental path.  We are a child-led setting where we focus on extending children’s thoughts, ideas and creations, while promoting independence and  confidence.

During our sessions, children have the opportunity to engage in experiences both indoors and out. We believe that there is “no such thing as bad weather – just bad clothing” – Sir Billy Connelly. Here in ELC we are extremely lucky to have access to a large garden with a grassy hill, a bike track, loose parts for creating, mud kitchens, water play, sand pits, and right in the middle, the “Cuckoo Stone” our very own bit of history.

We have placements for 75 children over 3 rooms, where children will be allocated shortly after starting. We call this the child’s ‘Home Room’ where they will be dropped off in the morning and it will act as a base from which they can explore the full ELC for almost the full day, with exception of lunchtime and drop off and pick up times. They will also be matched with a member of the team who will become their keyworker. A keyworker will be your ‘go-to’ contact for information sharing and they will also be responsible for recording development and progress.
