Maths at Home Challenge 2024

Mathematics is all around us!  We use our knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts in all sorts of ways, both in our jobs and in our everyday lives.

We would like to ensure that pupils here at Smithton develop a healthy and positive attitude towards maths, and become confident, numerate young learners.

We would like to invite pupils and their families to take part in our MATHS AT HOME CHALLENGE.   Throughout May and June 2024, we will be suggesting ways in which families can engage in a range of mathematical tasks, investigations, and games.

Today, your child will today be bringing home more information on these challenges.  Please check their schoolbags!

We hope that families throughout the Smithton Primary school community will enjoy this challenge together and that it will hopefully help our pupils to develop their confidence in the subject.  How many of these activities will you and your family be able to try out?

(There are 20 different suggested activities.  Feel free to do them in any order.)

For the children in our ELC - maybe they can get involved with big brothers or sisters!

In the process, we are also hoping to raise some money for our school and for the local charity, Special Needs Action Project (SNAP), who are based at The Haven Centre, right here in Smithton.

We would be most grateful if you were able to consider asking family, friends and neighbours to offer a little sponsorship for your child’s endeavours!

We will communicate with you further throughout the coming weeks.  Keep an eye out for some tips on how to get more mathematical at home.

HAVE FUN!
